By default, whenever a new text field is added to an existing table, the DataSync Agent will use 40 for lengths that are less than 40. For text fields greater than 40 in length, it will use the field length from the schema. To enable matching the length of the text fields, add the <match_field_lengths/> directive within your agent.xml configuration file.

(info) NOTE: This directive will work for new fields only.

Prerequisites

(warning) First, you will need to set up one of the Perspectium DataSync Agents.

(warning) You should also stop running your DataSync Agent before making any Agent configuration changes.


Procedure

To match field lengths your DataSync Agent, follow these steps:



Access your agent.xml configuration file

Navigate to the directory where you saved your agent.xml file when installing your DataSync Agent.


Add the <match_field_lengths/> directive

Open your agent.xml file in a text editing application. Then, locate the <task> directive(s) within your <subscribe> directive, and nest the <match_field_lengths/> directive.


Save your agent.xml

Save the changes you've made to your agent.xml and close the file. Your agent.xml should look similar to the example shown below:
